Lark grinned and leaned back. "I have no doubt he was. A trainee dying in a sparing accident. Wouldn't get much time if any for something like that."

Almos nodded. "Yeah.. you seem pretty okay about it. I'd be scared out of my mind if somebody tried to kill me."

"I'm not scared because I've faced scarier then him. I was once left in the mountains for a week with nothing but an empty canteen and my sword. One of the few things you have to do to become a blacksmith is prove you can get materials and come back on your own without dying. Was one of the scariest weeks in my uncle's life." Lark explained. "I had to face all sorts of life and death experiences.

"What did you have to do for that?" Lark asked curiously.

Almos shrugged. "Similar, in the sense that we had to go out into the wilderness. It was all about finding a familiar, though. My people are terrible at using weapons, for the most part. Our armies use almost purely magic."

Almos shrugged. "Its nothing that impressive. The familiars don't do much, unless you've got a warrior spirit."

Almos shrugged. "Magic isn't very reliable. It'd probably be much safer just to use a sword."

"Which do you perfer?" Lark asked curiously. She obviously perfered swords to magical aspects of anything. I mean she was a blacksmith loving weapons was basicly her job!

Lark nodded. "Being a Blacksmith I kinda have to love weaponry. Swordsmanship is a beautiful thing when used correctly. It`s exactly like an unplanned dance."

"Do you know that in one part of the world they use fans to train in swordsmanship? Before you get the sword you must be able to dance with a fan." Lark said looking at the fight going on.

"If you can dance with a fan then it proves you can be a good swordsman. Battles are deadly dances that usually only end in one winner or two losers." Lark explained. "You also have to be strategy ready and able to analyze your opponent quickly. It could be life and death."

Lark nodded as Gem looked at Almos. "Your turn Almos, even though you are learning magic I want you to go through these tests too." She said as the last man stood up and walked down to the training area.
